Hi there!! It's time for this week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge! I am this week's hostess.
Scripture:
"The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?" Psalm 118:6
When I was a little girl, my Mama enrolled me in swimming lessons. I was terrified. By terrified, I mean screaming at the top of my lungs. At the end of the class, everyone had to jump off of the diving board. I never did it. Why? Fear. That's why. Today I'm an adult, and I'm still afraid of deep water among many other things. I'm afraid of heights, snakes, the dark, needles ( I won't look!), and oddly enough...fish (they creep me out). That's not all, either. Fear has kept me from doing a lot of fun things, like riding roller coasters with my family last year when we went to DollyWood.
What are you afraid of? What's holding you back? What would you do if you weren't AFRAID? There are many things I'd do if I weren't so afraid of them! Maybe you want to try something new, but you fear failure. Fear could even be holding us back from things in our spiritual lives and serving God. Whether it's telling others about the love of Christ, praying with a friend, or even using talents to glorify Him...whatever you do, do it without fear and for Him! I know that I would play the piano more if I weren't so afraid of making mistakes! Whatever is holding you back today, put your trust in God, and KNOW that He is by your side no matter what! This is such a comforting verse to know that man or anything else cannot harm us as long as we have Him on our side!
Challenge:
Do something on your card that you're "afraid" of! For example, CAS style, stitching, a vintage look, etc. Just do something you wouldn't normally do!
I'm definitely afraid of a clean and simple style! I try it every now and then, but it's never been something that I'm comfortable with. I decided to conquer my fear of CAS today!
I embossed the Kraft card base with the Polka Dots embossing folder. I added a piece of patterned paper from the October Afternoon Farmhouse collection and rounded the bottom corners. I stamped the sentiment from Vertical Greetings by MFT Stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut it out with the coordinating Dienamic. I adhered it with foam tape and added a ribbon to finish it off. I also noticed that I have a little patriotic color scheme going on...perfect for Memorial Day weekend. :)
Challenge I Used:
Fab n Funky Challenge #122 - A New Beginning (my patterned paper is new)
Charisma Cardz Challenges #20 - no flowers allowed
52 Card Pick-Up
Craft Your Days Away #46 - Red, White, and Blue (I have cream, but there is white in my ribbon).

Candace...this is soooo sweet! I'm so glad you tackled a CAS, because it's so striking. You're probably thinking it's too plain, cause I do that with every CAS card I make, but it's not at all. It's gorgeous. I loved reading your thoughts this morning too. You are such a sweetheart! Your project and you just bring a smile to my face. Have a wonderful day in the Lord, and may He bless your week abundantly. I'll be praying for that!
ReplyDeleteWas so into your card, I forgot to tell you how much I appreciated your scripture challenge for the week too...a great verse and one we should read over and over. That's one to have on a refrigerator magnet! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Candace! Glad you stepped out of your comfort zone. One down... run to the roar!

Hi Candace...I love these challenges for the scriptures, but also because of the opportunity to get to know each other better!! I nearly drowned when I was 2, and since then, I have a fear of not being able to touch the bottom when I am in any body of water...yet, a boat ride doesn't scare me. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteLove your challenge verse, and this card is striking and so well executed in design...love it!! Have a great week conquering your fears...:)
Everything in simplicity ! Bravo !

Hi Candace and happy Memorial Day! Your card is awesome, love the embossing. Thank you for a great challenge too! Wonderful devo this week. Yay for school being out! Do you have vacation plans?? We're going to the beach for a week in August and I can hardly wait!! :) Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card..Love the embossing and the sentiment is touching! I enjoyed reading your post (I was terrified to swim as a kid, teen, and never over came it...)
ReplyDeleteI think you need to try CAS more often it's obviously a technique for which you have a natural talent. I always like that color combination, so pretty! And I like the Kraft background. Great verse, I'm going to be clinging to that one all week because it is a particular area of struggle in my life. Wishing you a blessed week!
