Hello, everyone! It has been a very LONG time since I have blogged or made anything creative. I've been busy being a mama and teaching 6th graders. Grayson is growing up so fast. He's 20 months old now. We'll celebrate his 2nd birthday in May...so hard to believe! I've been inspired to get back into my craft room and start creating again, and I used my Silhouette a lot over the holidays. I'm going to be posting more Silhouette projects here on my blog, as well as my paper-crafting projects. In fact, later this weekend I am going to post come Valentine's gift tags I made, so check back for that. :)
I have a cute and fun project to share with you today! I am in a couple of Silhouette groups on Facebook, and the ladies there were posting these personalized stuffed animals they got at Dollar Tree (love that place). I had tried using Heat Transfer Vinyl with my iron in the past, and I didn't have much luck with it, so I gave up. After seeing the success these ladies were having with their regular irons, I decided to give it another try. I bought just one of these animals. I figured if I messed up, I was only out a dollar, right?
I used my Silhouette to cut Grayson's name out in the Tangerine font. I don't remember what size I used, but I just measured the belly of the frog and sized it accordingly. To make my font a little thicker, I created an offset. I was going to link the font to share with you, but when I Google it, the Tangerine font that comes up is very different, so I'm not sure where I got this font from. I cut the name out in Red Siser Easy Weed Heat Transfer Vinyl. Don't forget to mirror the image/name before you cut it. After I weeded it, I placed it down on the frog's belly. I used my regular household iron (decided to put it to use...I don't iron my clothes with it), and I put it on the highest setting. According to this YouTube video I watched, I think you should put some parchment paper over the top, but I didn't have any, so I used wax paper and prayed that it would work. It did!
I just ironed it for about 10 seconds, and then a little more for good measure, and then I peeled off the plastic carrier sheet. I was really happy with how it turned out!
Now, I don't claim to be an expert on this at all! This was only my second time trying HTV. I just saw other people using their irons for these and figured I could try it myself. I did look at this tutorial which helped me. This YouTube video also made it seem very simple!
If you try this, best of luck to you, and have FUN! Y'all have a great weekend!
