Do you ever have one of those days where you just don't want to do anything at all? That was my day in a nutshell. I was totally lazy today. I had so much that I *needed* to do, but there was very little that I wanted to do. I needed to make cards and do that dreadful sink full of dishes from all my baking attempts yesterday, but instead, I read my Kindle and took a nap. Yup.
I did cook supper, though. The best thing ever about living in the South is supper time in the summer. There's always something fresh and locally grown to eat. Tonight it was corn, tomatoes, and squash. That's good eating, y'all. I was pretty proud of myself, too, because I attempted to fry up squash for the first time. That's the only way I like to eat it. My MawMaw used to fry it up in cornmeal when I was a kid. I love it sliced extra thin and fried crispy. I used this recipe by Deep South Dish to fry it. I was kinda scared, but it turned it out awesome, and that first bite took me right back to eating it when I was a kid. You've gotta love food that brings back memories. As for the corn, spread it with butter, salt, and pepper, and wrap the ears up in aluminum foil. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees for about minutes. Turn the ears during cooking. I won't ever boil corn again. I love it like this!
As for the card I'm sharing, I made it yesterday. Our pastor's mother-in-law passed away last week, so I wanted to make a sympathy card for them. Our pastor and his wife are very special to us, so I wanted this to be a pretty card. I used the Morning Glory stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Secret...I'm scared of flower stamps. I'm not very good at coloring flowers, so I hardly ever buy them, but I couldn't resist this beautiful set. I told myself I'd just have to practice the whole coloring thing! So if my light source and all that jazz is all wrong on my flowers, well...oops! I still love how my card turned out, and I don't think the recipients will be looking to see if I got my coloring right. LOL! :)
The layout for this card is MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch #75. The papers are My Mind's Eye Fiddlesticks. I colored my image with Copic markers. I added some pearls and ribbon to pretty it up a bit. I will leave it at that since I've already been running off at the mouth...umm...fingers tonight. :)
