Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #138

Sunday, May 6, 2012

If you're looking for my Christmas Card Challenges post, please scroll down a bit. :)

Hi there!! Happy Sunday! I have exciting news today! I have been asked to join the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Design Team! This challenge site is very close to my heart. It was the first design team I was ever on, and it meant so much to me that they liked my work enough to give me a spot on their team. I am so very happy to be back on this team with such a great group of ladies who all have hearts for God!

Come join us for card challenges inspired by Scripture, and a new sponsor each Sunday!!

Now, onto the challenge! Miesje is our challenge hostess this week. Our sponsor is Our Daily Bread Designs. One lucky player this week will win a $15 gift certificate to the ODBD store!!

The scripture is:
"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."  1 John 2: 4-6

The challenge is to create a card that has something real or natural on it, such as twine, burlap, shells, sand, etc.

I made this card not only for this week's SSIC challenge, but also for the Sweet n Sassy Stamps May Release Party Challenge #1, which was to make a masculine card, and the SNSS May Release Party Challenge #2, which was to not do any coloring on your card. As if those aren't enough challenges, I used Split Coast Stampers Sketch Challenge #383 for the layout.

I used the Our Refuge stamp set by Sweet n Sassy Stamps and stamped the scripture in Memento Rich Cocoa. I sponged around the edges with Antique Linen distress ink. I really struggle with masculine cards, so to add a little extra "something" to this card, I dug out my edge distresser and roughed up the edges a little. All of the papers are from the Echo Park This and That Charming collection...one of my favorite paper pads for masculine cards these days. I used some MFT Dienamics - the leafy flourish and the monarch border - to embellish my card and added a button, some twine, and a couple of brads in the top corners.

We'd love to have you join us this week at SSIC! Thanks for stopping by!! Be sure to check out what the other SSIC ladies have to share with you!
